Independent Manga Alliance launched at San Diego Comic-Con to support indie manga creators

At the San Diego Comic-Con 2026, the U.S. manga publisher Manga Mavericks announced a partnership with Mahjong Pros and unveiled the Independent Manga Alliance (IMA). The new industry organization is intended to give independent manga creators and small publishers resources for marketing, translation, distribution and sales, and to connect them with a global readership.

Founding members of the IMA include Manga Mavericks Books, Mahjong Pros, Strict Algorithm LLC, Red String Manga and Curation Entertainment Partners Inc. Co‑founder and CEO Varun Gupta said the alliance will help creators “power through the challenges” of the manga market. Alongside the alliance launch, Manga Mavericks previewed upcoming releases such as the next chapter of the series Divine Messengers & Demonic Guardians and the manga Our Insignificant Justice, slated for 2027.
