Independent yarn and craft shops open new locations in Stroud and Sheffield

Independent craft retailers are expanding their physical footprints in the United Kingdom. In Stroud, the yarn and fabric specialist In Stitches has officially relocated to a new town centre location at 28 High Street. The shop, owned by Christina Hinder, transitioned from its previous site in Cainscross to provide a dedicated space for haberdashery, materials, and creative workshops.

In Sheffield, Petra Schwarczova, founder of the hand-dyed yarn company Black Elephant, is preparing to open a brick-and-mortar retail space. Located in Grafters Yard, the Sheffield Yarn Shop is scheduled to open in early September. The move follows the growth of Schwarczova’s business from a home-based operation to a commercial entity, aiming to serve as a community hub for local knitters and crocheters.
