Independiente Medellín updates status of Jackson Martínez and Juan Fernando Quintero

Deportivo Independiente Medellín head coach Luis Amaranto Perea has provided updates regarding the availability of star signings Jackson Martínez and Juan Fernando Quintero.

Jackson Martínez is currently undergoing an individual physical readaptation process. Perea noted that because the striker has not competed at a high level for six years, the coaching staff is limiting his workload to avoid premature physical strain. His official debut remains unscheduled as he works to reach necessary competitive conditions.

Juan Fernando Quintero is also sidelined following a left femoral rectus injury. While the club's medical department reports he has begun field readaptation and may return in the coming weeks, Perea suggested a potential return might not occur until the final stages of the Liga BetPlay 2026-II season.

The absences of these players come as the club faces challenges in its qualification push for the semifinal quadrangulars following a recent defeat against Atlético Nacional.
