Independiente Santa Fe seeks to extend Franco Fagúndez loan

Independiente Santa Fe is exploring options to retain Uruguayan striker Franco Fagúndez. Club president Eduardo Méndez indicated that the team aims to negotiate a new loan agreement with Santos Laguna, the club that holds his rights.

Because the current arrangement does not include a purchase option, Santa Fe intends to seek an extension that includes a clause for a potential future permanent transfer. Fagúndez, 26, has become a key figure in the attack following a recovery from a knee injury earlier this year. He has recorded three goals and three assists in 13 league matches during 2026 and recently scored in the Copa Sudamericana.
