India accuses Pakistani military of being the country's real rulers at UN
During an interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues at the UN General Assembly, India accused Pakistan of using propaganda against New Delhi to deflect from its own domestic crises. Raghoo Puri, First Secretary at India's Permanent Mission to the UN, stated that Pakistan's government is a ‘Form 47 government’ that cannot override instructions from the Pakistani military, whom he described as the country's ‘real rulers.’
Puri highlighted Pakistan's internal challenges, including a flailing economy, general lawlessness, and human rights violations in regions such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. He also noted that Pakistan's minority populations have shrunk significantly since independence.
Addressing the dispute over Jammu and Kashmir, Puri rejected Pakistan's claims and reiterated that the region is an integral and inalienable part of India. He asserted that the only outstanding issue is the vacation of territories currently under Pakistan's illegal occupation.
