India advances 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games bid
India has advanced its bid to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announcing a vision titled “Rising Together.” The proposed bid centers on Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has invited India, along with Germany, Qatar, Turkiye, Hungary, Republic of Korea, and South Africa, to present their projects to the IOC’s Future Host Commission at the end of November. The IOC will evaluate these bids based on technical factors including venue master plans, athlete experience, funding strategies, political support, and long-term legacy plans.
IOA President P. T. Usha stated that the recognition of India’s aspirations is an honor. The bid aims to use the Games as a catalyst for national transformation, encouraging sports participation among India’s large youth population and creating professional opportunities in education and employment.
