Gujarat forms committee to frame disability promotion quota policy

The Gujarat government has established a five-member high-level committee to formulate a policy regarding reservation in promotions for employees with disabilities in state government services. Headed by Chief Secretary M K Das, the committee includes senior officials from the General Administration Department, the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, the Law Department, and the Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities.

The committee is tasked with conducting a detailed examination of existing legal frameworks, central government guidelines, and relevant judgments from the Supreme Court and various High Courts. Additionally, the panel will perform a comparative study of policies implemented by other state governments to determine an appropriate reservation percentage and the necessary steps for effective implementation.

This initiative aims to create more equitable career opportunities and ensure inclusive administrative practices within the state's services.
