INDIA Alliance leaders meet in Delhi to strategize against Election Commission
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge hosted a strategic lunch for members of the INDIA Alliance in New Delhi to coordinate future political actions following recent protests against the Election Commission of India. The meeting, attended by prominent leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, focused on addressing concerns regarding electoral processes and alleged irregularities.
Opposition leaders reportedly planned to sign a joint letter requesting an urgent meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner to present their grievances. The alliance also discussed a strategy to demand a collective meeting with the commission; if denied, they may organize a joint protest march to the Election Commission headquarters. Additionally, the group prepared a letter to request an audience with President Droupadi Murmu.
Discussions also reportedly included a legal draft for a formal proposal to remove the Chief Election Commissioner during the upcoming parliamentary session. While most major opposition parties participated, the Samajwadi Party did not attend the lunch.
