I.N.D.I.A. alliance meets to discuss impeachment of Chief Election Commissioner

Members of the I.N.D.I.A. opposition alliance met in Delhi to discuss alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and to plan a potential impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The meeting, held at the Constitution Club, included prominent leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Mamata Banerjee, Tejashwi Yadav, and Omar Abdullah. The opposition is accusing the Election Commission of facilitating ‘vote theft’ to maintain power.

While several key parties attended, some notable absences were reported. Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party sent representatives instead of attending personally, and leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party and DMK were not present. The alliance continues to face internal coordination challenges, including the lack of a formal secretariat or designated coordinator.
