Afghanistan to Host India in Delhi for Historic T20I Series
The Afghanistan Cricket Board has scheduled a three‑match Twenty‑20 International series against India to be played in Delhi on September 13, 15 and 17, 2026. Although the games will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, Afghanistan will be the official host, marking the first time the side has hosted India on Indian soil.
The series is intended as a preparation window for both teams ahead of the men's cricket competition at the 2026 Asian Games, which runs from September 24 to early October. The dates may shift if the Indian team's planned white‑ball tour of Bangladesh materialises, as the Bangladesh series is slated for the first half of September. Recent diplomatic outreach, including an invitation to Bangladesh’s prime minister to attend the BRICS summit, has raised hopes for that tour.
Broadcasting rights are split: FanCode holds digital streaming rights, while television rights are being contested among Zee, Sony Sports and possibly JioStar. The series follows India's recent 3‑0 ODI sweep of Afghanistan and a mixed run in white‑ball cricket, offering a chance to regain momentum before the Asian Games.
