India Women reach Asia Cup 2026 final after beating Bangladesh
India's women's cricket team has advanced to the Women's T20 Asia Cup 2026 final after defeating Bangladesh by 40 runs in the first semi-final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. After winning the toss and electing to bat, India posted a total of 149 for 6 in their 20 overs. Shafali Verma led the batting effort with a match-winning 64 runs off 40 balls, including seven boundaries and three sixes. Other notable contributions came from captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who remained unbeaten on 24, and Richa Ghosh, who scored 21.
In response, Bangladesh was restricted to 109 for 7. Indian bowler Deepti Sharma was instrumental in the victory, taking 3 wickets for 26 runs. Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana noted that batting inconsistency was a major factor in the loss.
In the second semi-final, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan in a close contest to secure their place in the final. Sri Lanka will now face India in the championship match, scheduled for September 13.
