India and Bangladesh officials discuss bilateral ties and potential PM visit

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi met with Bangladesh's State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir to discuss bilateral relations and international matters. The meeting, held at the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, included discussions on regional issues and the recent 81st UNGA in New York.

During the meeting, officials addressed the possibility of a visit to India by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Minister Kobir noted that while challenges exist, they aim to overcome them through dialogue and mutual respect, stating that a visit may occur when the environment is conducive.

Bangladesh officials expressed a commitment to a forward-looking relationship with India. Nurul Islam Moni, Chief Whip of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad, also indicated that Bangladesh is ready to strengthen ties if India extends its hand to bolster bilateral engagement.
