India and Canada discuss bilateral ties and Ukraine situation

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand held a telephonic conversation to discuss bilateral cooperation and the ongoing situation in Ukraine.

The dialogue follows the annual Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) held earlier this month in New Delhi. During those meetings, the Indian delegation was led by MEA Secretary (East) Rudrendra Tandon, while the Canadian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arun Thangaraj.

Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to ties anchored in shared democratic values, sovereignty, and the rule of law. Discussions covered progress in several institutional mechanisms, including energy, critical minerals, science and technology, education, security, defense, culture, and consular matters. The two sides also expressed a shared commitment to concluding the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
