India and Canada target CEPA conclusion by 2026

India and Canada have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, aiming to conclude negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) by the end of 2026. During annual Foreign Office Consultations in New Delhi, both nations set an ambitious target to more than double bilateral trade to CAD 70 billion by 2030.

The discussions highlighted progress in several sectors, including energy, critical minerals, science and technology, education, security, and defense. Both delegations emphasized shared democratic values, respect for sovereignty, and adherence to the rule of law as foundations for their renewed momentum in bilateral engagement.
