India and China work to strengthen trade and cultural ties

India and China are working to strengthen trade ties, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people contacts, according to Pratik Mathur, the Consul General of India in Shanghai. Mathur noted that China has returned to being India’s largest trading partner and emphasized the importance of addressing trade-related issues to ensure greater market access for Indian products and technologies in China.

In addition to economic cooperation, Mathur highlighted the recent resumption of direct flights between Shanghai and major Indian cities. He stated that maintaining mutual respect and sensitivity is a priority as both nations work to build these links.

Complementing these efforts, Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong suggested that the two nations should view each other as partners rather than rivals, advocating for a “correct strategic perception” to develop bilateral ties from a long-term perspective.
