India and Cyprus strengthen defence and maritime cooperation
India and Cyprus are expanding their bilateral relationship through enhanced cooperation in defence, maritime, and transport sectors. Following a 2022 Memorandum of Understanding on Defence and Military Cooperation, the two nations have implemented Bilateral Defence Cooperation Programmes (BDCP) for 2025 and 2026 to institutionalize military engagement and structured activities.
Recent diplomatic discussions in Nicosia between Indian High Commissioner Manish and Cypriot Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Evie Tsolaki focused on strengthening connectivity and maritime linkages. Additionally, high-level meetings at the Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs reviewed the broader bilateral agenda, reaffirming a commitment to translating leadership visions into tangible outcomes following President Nikos Christodoulides’ visit to India.
