India and Ethiopia expand defence cooperation

An Indian delegation, led by Ministry of Defence Joint Secretary Sanjay Kumar, visited the Ethiopian Military Academy in Holota to review its training capabilities and facilities.

This visit follows the second India-Ethiopia Joint Defence Cooperation Meeting held in Addis Ababa, co-chaired by Sanjay Kumar and Major General Teshome Gemechu. During the meeting, officials discussed mutual interests including military training, exercises, medical cooperation, peacekeeping, and defence industries.

The two nations agreed to deepen cooperation through personnel exchanges, joint ventures in defence production, and experience-sharing. These actions are part of an institutional mechanism established by a Defence Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding signed in February last year.
