India and Hungary to establish Ayurveda academic chair

The Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA) in Jamnagar, under India’s Ministry of Ayush, and Széchenyi István University in Győr, Hungary, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an Academic Chair in Ayurveda.

Signed on September 23, 2026, to coincide with Ayurveda Day, the agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between India and Hungary regarding traditional medicine systems. The new chair will operate within the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences at Széchenyi István University.

The partnership is designed to facilitate knowledge exchange and institutional cooperation among scholars, researchers, and students. It seeks to promote the scientific dissemination of Ayurvedic knowledge and foster a deeper understanding of India’s traditional medical systems within Hungary.
