India and Japan strengthen semiconductor and AI partnerships

India and Japan are working to deepen economic and technological ties, specifically within the semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors. Following an official visit to Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal engaged with major Japanese financial institutions and over 30 companies to encourage long-term Japanese capital investment in India’s manufacturing and technology ecosystems.

In a separate development regarding automotive cooperation, Malaysian Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Johari Abdul Ghani and Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister Takuo Komori discussed a potential partnership between Daihatsu and Perodua for electric vehicle (EV) development in Malaysia. While no formal partnership currently exists, discussions suggest possible collaboration to address the lack of electrified models in certain regional markets.
