India and Mauritius celebrate longstanding bilateral friendship

Mauritius President Dharambeer Gokhool and Indian High Commissioner Anurag Srivastava celebrated the longstanding friendship between India and Mauritius during a reception marking India’s 80th Independence Day.

High Commissioner Srivastava highlighted several recent bilateral achievements, including the Enhanced Strategic Partnership and a $680 million Special Economic Package for Mauritius. Other notable developments mentioned include the inauguration of a Renal Transplant Unit, the delivery of 100 e-buses, and upcoming collaborative projects involving a joint satellite and an e-judiciary system.

The event was attended by various high-ranking officials, including Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam and several ministers. The celebration also featured cultural performances and displays of Indian handicrafts through the ‘One District One Product’ initiative.
