India and Mongolia conduct NOMADIC ELEPHANT 2026 military exercise
The 18th edition of the India–Mongolia Joint Military Exercise, titled NOMADIC ELEPHANT 2026, is currently underway at the Foreign Training Node in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. Running from September 21 to October 3, the bilateral exercise aims to enhance interoperability, tactical proficiency, and mutual understanding between the Indian Army and the Mongolian Armed Forces.
Training activities include intensive weapon handling and firing drills on small arms systems. Mongolian personnel have participated in sessions covering weapon familiarization, safety procedures, and aiming techniques. Additionally, the Indian Army has conducted demonstrations of Room Intervention Drills, which focus on systematic entry, room clearance, coordinated movement, and casualty evacuation in built-up areas.
The exercise also facilitates a professional exchange of operational practices, including demonstrations of Mongolian martial heritage and hands-on tactical training to strengthen the coordination between the two contingents.
