Asian Games 2026: Rain washes out men's cricket quarter-finals
Persistent rain at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin has disrupted the men's cricket tournament at the 2026 Asian Games, resulting in the abandonment of all four quarter-final matches without a single ball being bowled. Due to tournament rules, the higher-ranked teams based on ICC T20I standings have advanced to the semi-finals.
India, the defending champions, will face Sri Lanka in one semi-final, while Pakistan will take on Bangladesh in the other. Both matches are scheduled for October 1. The washouts have eliminated Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Nepal, and Malaysia from the competition.
In other sporting news at the Games, the Indian women's 4x400m relay team secured a gold medal at the Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium, clocking 3 minutes and 29.69 seconds to win the event. Additionally, the Indian women's compound archery team successfully defended their gold medal, defeating China in the final.
