India and Pakistan clash at UN over Kashmir accusations

Pakistan issued a strong condemnation of recent statements by India’s defence minister on Jammu and Kashmir, describing them as “highly provocative” and threatening regional stability. In a statement from Islamabad, Pakistan urged the United Nations to intervene against what it called India’s “rogue behaviour”, accusing New Delhi of distorting the legal status of the disputed territory, sponsoring terrorism and undermining the right to self‑determination for Kashmiri people.

India responded at a United Nations Security Council open debate, rejecting Pakistan’s allegations and asserting that Kashmir “has always been, is, and will remain an integral and inalienable part of India”. The Indian permanent representative accused Pakistan of using cross‑border terrorism as a state policy tool and of politicising the issue at the UN, urging Pakistan to focus on its internal challenges instead of making baseless claims.
