India and Pakistan face rising tensions after naval collision and drone activity

Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated following a naval collision in the Arabian Sea and increased drone activity along the Line of Control (LoC).

On Tuesday, Indian and Pakistani naval vessels collided, leading to a diplomatic standoff. Both nations have summoned each other's diplomats to lodge formal protests. While the specific details of the collision remain disputed and neither government has released independent data, the incident marks the first direct military encounter between the nuclear-armed neighbors since their air war in May 2025. Pakistan noted its navy was conducting the SEASPARK-26 exercise in its exclusive economic zone at the time.

Simultaneously, Indian security agencies have reported intensified drone activity along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. These unmanned aerial vehicles are suspected of being used for surveillance, dropping weapons, or assisting terrorist infiltration. Recent sightings have occurred in the Rajouri and Poonch sectors. In a related development, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested three alleged overground workers in Rajouri, recovering an IED in a case linked to the Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba.
