India and Russia target $100 billion trade by 2030

India and Russia have established ambitious economic goals to increase bilateral trade to $100 billion and two-way investment to $50 billion by 2030. Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin have directed their respective governments to expand cooperation across various sectors, including trade and commerce.

The leaders discussed these bilateral relations on the sidelines of the BRICS summit held in New Delhi on September 12 and 13. Key outcomes included joint participation in the BRICS business summit and a visit to the Innoprom-India exhibition, the first Russian industrial exhibition hosted in New Delhi.

Labor cooperation is a significant focus of the partnership. Ambassador Kumar noted that Indians currently account for approximately 25 to 30 percent of Russia’s quota for foreign workers. To support Russian industrial needs, India has proposed that Russia establish educational institutions in India or collaborate with existing Indian institutions to train skilled personnel.
