India and Switzerland sign five bilateral agreements

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swiss President Viola Amherd held bilateral talks in New Delhi, resulting in the signing of five agreements. These pacts cover migration, the exchange of young professionals, transport, science and technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The discussions emphasized the pillars of innovation, infrastructure, and advanced technology. Both nations agreed to deepen cooperation in defense production, military exchange, and nuclear energy.

Building on the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement between India and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), the leaders aim to boost trade in sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and engineering. India also seeks to attract Swiss investment in biotechnology, life sciences, banking, insurance, food processing, and sustainability. India has set a target to attract $100 billion in investment and create 1 million direct jobs over the next 15 years through such economic partnerships.
