India and Thailand expand direct flight connectivity

Aviation connectivity between India and Thailand is expanding as airlines introduce new direct routes to meet rising demand from tourists and business travelers. Air India Express has launched a new service connecting Visakhapatnam to Bangkok with twice-weekly flights, while budget carriers are increasing nonstop services to Phuket from cities including Hyderabad and Chennai.

In Northeast India, a new direct flight service has been established between Guwahati and Bangkok. Regarding the sustainability of these routes, the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation stated that airfares are determined by airlines through dynamic pricing based on market demand, seasonality, and international conditions. The Ministry noted that while it generally refrains from regulating fares in a deregulated market to maintain competitiveness, it remains prepared to intervene in exceptional circumstances to prevent exploitative pricing practices.
