India and UK agree to expand military cooperation and R&D
India and the United Kingdom held the 25th Defence Consultative Group (DCG) meeting in New Delhi to review bilateral defence-industrial cooperation. The meeting was co-chaired by Indian Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and UK Permanent Under Secretary for Defence Jeremy Pocklington.
Discussions focused on strengthening research and development through the India-UK Vision 2035 and the 10-year Defence Industrial Roadmap. Both nations agreed to expand military-to-military engagement, including joint exercises, training programmes, and capacity-building initiatives.
Maritime security in the Indo-Pacific was a key topic, with both sides noting the establishment of the Regional Maritime Security Centre of Excellence under India’s Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative. The officials reaffirmed their commitment to mutual security, strategic autonomy, and regional peace.
