India and US launch 22nd Yudh Abhyas military exercise

The Indian Army and the United States Army have commenced the 22nd edition of Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2026. This bilateral military exercise is designed to strengthen the defense partnership between the two nations and is scheduled to conclude on September 28.

A notable feature of this year's training is the deployment of Arctic-trained soldiers from the US Army’s 11th Airborne Division, based in Alaska, to the high-altitude regions of India. The exercise also includes participation from the 3rd Multi-Domain Task Force (3MDTF), which introduces integrated command-and-control systems and advanced long-range precision fires to the framework.

The training program includes a command post exercise, a field training exercise, and a combined live-fire demonstration showcasing the digital integration of long-range and precision fire and rocket systems. US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor and Lieutenant General Joel “JB” Vowell are expected to attend key events, highlighting the strategic commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
