India announces 15-player ODI squad for England series, Kohli pending fitness clearance
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a 15‑member squad for the three‑match ODI series against England scheduled for July 14, 16 and 19 at Edgbaston, Sophia Gardens and Lord's. Shubman Gill will captain, with Shreyas Iyer as vice‑captain.
Senior batter Virat Kohli and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah have been named in the side, but Kohli’s participation depends on a fitness test after a recent hamstring injury; the test is to be conducted in Bengaluru. Other selections include Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Gurnoor Brar and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Bumrah returns after a workload‑managed rest, while Hardik Pandya remains omitted due to rehabilitation setbacks. The squad will also feature a rookie pacer, Prince Yadav, in the T20I squad for the upcoming series against Ireland.
