India announces 2024 Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awardees

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has announced the four recipients of the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards for 2024. President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to confer the honours at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

In the Land Adventure category, Baljeet Kaur and Skalzang Rigzin have been selected. Kaur is recognized for scaling five 8,000-metre peaks in a single season, while Rigzin is noted for summiting Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen or Sherpa support.

Rimo Saha has been named the winner in the Water Adventure category, recognized for his extensive achievements as an international para channel swimmer. Shiv Prasad Chamoli, a former DIG of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and head of Uttarakhand’s Winter Games Association, will receive the Lifetime Achievement award.

The awards include a bronze statuette, a certificate, a blazer with a silken tie or saree, and Rs 15 lakh in award money. The ceremony date will be announced separately.
