India announces fencing and women's cricket squads for 2026 Asian Games
Preparations are underway for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, with India announcing key contingents for fencing and women's cricket.
The Fencing Association of India has selected a 20-member fencing squad to compete between September 19 and October 4, 2026. The team will be led by Olympian C. A. Bhavani Devi, who is returning from a two-month ban. Other notable members include Commonwealth medalists Taniksha Khatri, Prachi Lohan, and Karan Singh Gurjar.
In women's cricket, the tournament is scheduled for September 17 to September 22 at Korogi Sports Park. India, the defending champions, has announced its squad led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana. Other nations that have confirmed their squads include Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the host nation, Japan. Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, and China are expected to announce their teams at a later date.
