India judicial system sees new appointments and calls for inclusive justice

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended several judicial appointments across various Indian High Courts. Notably, Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra has been recommended as the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Additionally, the central government has notified the appointment of 30 judges and additional judges for the Madras, Calcutta, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh High Courts.

At a National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) conference in Indore, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant emphasized the need for a more inclusive justice system. He stated that justice must "travel to the citizen" and called for legal institutions to engage with communities through dialogue, dignity, and inclusion. He highlighted the importance of providing legal services in local languages and dialects to better serve diverse populations, including tribal communities.

In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced the establishment of fast-track courts in Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, and Jabalpur to ensure the speedy trial of cases related to examination fraud. Furthermore, the state is expanding its aviation connectivity, with four new air routes—Bhopal-Rewa, Bhopal-Patna, Rewa-Kolkata, and Jabalpur-Kolkata—being launched under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Aviation Policy.
