India-Bangladesh Sundarbans Border Security Review by BSF DG Praveen Kumar

Director General of the Border Security Force Praveen Kumar visited the Sundarbans stretch of the India‑Bangladesh border from July 11 to 14. He examined the operational readiness of troops deployed in the difficult riverine and coastal terrain, assessed the border security grid and the progress of ongoing fencing works aimed at strengthening surveillance and preventing illegal infiltration.

Kumar chaired a high‑level security review meeting with all key stakeholders, stressing the need for better inter‑agency coordination among border forces, state and district administrations, central agencies and local residents. He met with border communities and officials, thanked them for their cooperation, and reaffirmed the BSF’s commitment to public‑force ties and continued vigilance in the ecologically sensitive region.
