India bank branches to face multiple closures in late August
Bank branches across various Indian states face multiple closures in late August 2026 due to a combination of RBI-mandated weekend holidays and regional religious festivals.
Following the mandatory closure of all branches on Saturday, August 22, and Sunday, August 23, several holidays are scheduled for the following week. On Tuesday, August 25, banks in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram will be closed for Milad-un-Nabi, First Onam, and Milad-e-Sharif. On Wednesday, August 26, widespread closures are expected in major cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Lucknow due to Eid-e-Milad and Thiruvonam.
Additionally, many regions will observe holidays on Friday, August 28, for Raksha Bandhan. While physical branches will be closed on these specific dates, digital banking services, including UPI, net banking, mobile banking, and ATM operations, will remain fully functional for customers.
