India banks to observe seven days of closures in late August
According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) official calendar, banks across various states in India will observe seven days of closures between August 16 and August 31.
Scheduled closures include nationwide weekly holidays on August 16, August 23, and August 30. Additionally, all government and private banks will be closed on the fourth Saturday, August 22.
Regional and religious holidays will also impact operations. Banks in Kerala will be closed on August 28 and August 29 for Onam. On August 31, banks in several states—including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, and Rajasthan—will observe Sri Krishna Janmashtami and Avani Avittam.
While physical branches will be closed on these dates, digital services such as net banking, mobile applications, UPI, and ATMs will remain available 24/7.
