Regional developments across India involve infrastructure, digital currency, and railway security
Various regional developments are underway across India. In Delhi, the Delhi Development Authority has cleared the Master Plan 2047, a long-term blueprint for land use and physical development. However, the Delhi Congress has raised concerns that increasing construction density without upgrading water, sewerage, drainage, and power infrastructure could further strain the city’s civic services.
In Chandigarh, the administration is set to launch a purpose-bound digital delivery of food subsidies using the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), also known as the e-rupee. This initiative aims to make welfare delivery through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana more transparent and traceable.
In the Jammu division, the Northern Railway has expanded a cash pickup facility with the State Bank of India to 67 railway stations. The agreement is intended to enhance revenue security and reduce the workload on station staff by ensuring safe and timely cash transportation.
Regarding the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) dispute, the Centre informed the Supreme Court that the Punjab government is nearing an amicable settlement regarding the payment of dues to Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, the Delhi government is developing plans to manage stray cattle on city roads to prevent traffic disruptions and accidents.
