Janmashtami celebrations held across India and Bangladesh

Janmashtami, the festival commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna, was celebrated with widespread religious fervor across India and Bangladesh. In Mathura, the birthplace of Krishna, massive crowds gathered at the Shri Krishna Janmasthan for midnight rituals, including special abhishek ceremonies and live-streamed prayers. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the Janmabhoomi temple to offer prayers and interacted with devotees.

In Bangladesh, the festival was marked by public holidays and religious programs at various temples, including the Dhakeshwari National Temple. President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Prime Minister Tarek Rahman issued messages of greeting, emphasizing themes of communal harmony, righteousness, and social unity.

Beyond major religious sites, the celebrations included cultural performances, sand art tributes in Odisha, and devotional music releases. The festival continues to serve as a significant cultural event, emphasizing the victory of good over evil and the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.
