India celebrates National Space Day with student science initiatives

National Space Day 2026 was marked by various educational initiatives across India aimed at promoting scientific temper and space science awareness among students.

In Sri Vijaya Puram, the Science Centre hosted celebrations under the theme ‘Towards Viksit Bharat: Innovating, Collaborating and Aspiring to Global Space Leadership’. The event included painting and quiz competitions for primary and middle-level students to encourage interest in science and technology.

In Andhra Pradesh, the Science City of Andhra Pradesh (SCAP), in collaboration with the ISRO-authorised Muskan Educom Foundation, conducted a Space Skill Workshop at Zilla Parishad High School in Nidamarru. The workshop provided government school students with hands-on experience in space technology, including demonstrations of rockets, satellites, and telescopes. A highlight of the session was a hydro rocket launch, which allowed students to observe principles of propulsion and motion through practical application.
