India condemns foiled neo-Nazi plot against Hindu temple in Illinois

India's Ministry of External Affairs has strongly condemned a foiled plot to target a Hindu temple in Aurora, Illinois. Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the reports of a mass shooting conspiracy as “extremely concerning,” noting that the incident reflects rising racial hatred and anti-India sentiment in the United States.

A 19-year-old suspect, who identified himself as a ‘white supremacist neo-Nazi,’ was arrested after his rifle jammed just before the planned attack. He faces charges including making terrorist threats and illegal possession of weapons. The arrest followed a tip from a colleague who reported the suspect's actions to local police.

India has expressed its awareness of the actions taken by U.S. law enforcement, including the suspect's arrest and detention. The Ministry called for a thorough and impartial investigation by American authorities to ensure those responsible are punished and to implement measures to prevent future hate-motivated violence against the Indian community.
