India consumer trends show surge in social media and AI usage

Recent reports highlight a significant shift in Indian consumer behavior toward digital and social media platforms for product discovery. According to a Deloitte India report, nearly 80% of home shoppers in the country now discover products through social media, a trend driven largely by younger, digitally informed homeowners. The Indian home and household market is projected to grow 1.6 times over the next five years, potentially reaching USD 260 billion by 2030.

Complementing this, the Integral Ad Science (IAS) Holiday Shopping India 2026 Report indicates that 91% of consumers find online advertising helpful for discovering products and promotions during the festive season. There is also an increasing reliance on artificial intelligence, with 38% of consumers planning to use AI tools for product research and gift ideas, up from 32% the previous year. Digital shopping remains dominant, with 84% of consumers intending to conduct most or all of their festive shopping online, primarily via mobile devices.
