India coordinates evacuation of citizens amid Nepal flash floods

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is managing the evacuation of citizens stranded by catastrophic flash flooding in Nepal. While approximately 400 Indian citizens on the Chinese side of the border have been confirmed safe, the MEA reports that 320 Indian nationals remain uncontactable or missing following floods along the Nepal-Tibet border corridors. Additionally, roughly 100 foreign nationals of Indian origin, many traveling for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, are currently untraceable.

Evacuation efforts are ongoing, though landslides have disrupted road connectivity. So far, 96 Indian nationals have successfully crossed from the Chinese side back into Nepal, and 21 individuals from Tamil Nadu have arrived in New Delhi after being moved through Kathmandu. In another development, 63 Indian workers from the Trishuli-1 hydroelectric project were successfully moved to safe locations.

India is also providing humanitarian aid to Nepal. Multiple aircraft have been dispatched carrying tens of tons of relief materials, including food, medicines, blankets, and solar lamps. These efforts are being coordinated closely with Nepalese authorities as the region continues to face heavy rain warnings and a rising death toll.
