India, Costa Rica aim to lift bilateral trade to $391 million

India and Costa Rica agreed to deepen their economic relationship and boost bilateral trade, targeting about $391 million in FY 2025‑26. The two sides will use the IndiaCosta Rica Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) as the main platform for regular dialogue, business‑to‑business engagement and institutional cooperation.

The first JETCO meeting was held virtually, co‑chaired by Joint Secretary Vimal Anand of India’s Ministry of Commerce and Adriana Castro, Director General of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica. Participants reviewed existing trade and investment links, exchanged information on standards, conformity assessment, food‑safety, pharmaceutical regulation and export certification, and discussed ways to simplify procedures and expand opportunities across sectors.
