India cricket leadership meets to address overseas struggles and injuries

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has convened a review meeting in Mumbai involving head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and Centre of Excellence head VVS Laxman. The meeting aims to address growing concerns regarding India’s inconsistent performance in foreign conditions and a rising trend of player injuries.

Despite achieving success in major tournaments like the 2025 Champions Trophy and the 2026 T20 World Cup, the team has struggled during recent overseas tours, including series losses to Ireland and England. Discussions are expected to focus on injury management, player recovery timelines, and preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Key players such as Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Washington Sundar have recently faced fitness issues, complicating team selection and long-term planning. Former cricketer Deep Dasgupta noted that the inability to predict player availability due to injuries creates significant frustration for the coaching staff and leadership.
