India CSR spending reaches Rs 40,794 crore in FY25
India’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) spending reached Rs 40,794 crore in FY 2024–25, representing a 15% compound annual growth rate over the last decade. However, reports from Sattva Consulting and India Data Insights indicate that funding remains unevenly distributed relative to developmental needs.
While education, healthcare, livelihoods, environment, and rural development account for over 80% of CSR funding, significant geographic disparities exist. For example, Maharashtra receives nearly 19 times more CSR funding per capita than Bihar, despite Bihar having a multidimensional poverty index nearly five times higher than Maharashtra's.
Projections from CSRBOX suggest that cumulative CSR expenditure in India could reach ₹5.50 lakh crore between 2014 and 2030, with annual spending potentially exceeding ₹77,000 crore by 2030. This growth highlights an increasing need to align capital with specific development challenges and underserved regions to meet 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
