India Day 2026 celebrations held at Kololo Independence Grounds

Thousands of people gathered at the Kololo Independence Grounds on October 3 for Plascon India Day 2026, a celebration of Indian music, dance, and cuisine in Uganda. Organized by the Vishwadharma Foundation in conjunction with the Indian Association Uganda and sponsored by Kansai Plascon Uganda, the event featured flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades, and approximately 30 stalls showcasing Indian food and community services.

In addition to cultural festivities, the event included a healthcare initiative aimed at supporting children in need of heart surgeries and patients requiring cataract operations. The program featured nearly 400 performers showcasing traditional, classical, and contemporary Indian dance.

The celebration was attended by several high-ranking Ugandan officials, including Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Sanjay Tanna, and Minister of Local Government Balaam Barugahara. The evening concluded with a concert headlined by Indian singers Neha Kakkar and Rohanpreet Singh.
