Shahzad Bhatti Network dismantled by Indian security forces

Indian security agencies have dismantled the Shahzad Bhatti Network, an alleged Pakistan-backed terror syndicate, through coordinated operations across 14 states. Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the crackdown, which took place on August 12 ahead of India's Independence Day, resulted in the arrest of over 200 operatives and the detention of 253 individuals.

The Ministry of Home Affairs reported that more than 80 FIRs have been filed under various laws, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Authorities seized a significant cache of weapons and equipment, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades bearing Pakistan Ordnance Factory markings, pistols, live ammunition, and CCTV cameras used for espionage and reconnaissance of defense and religious sites.

Pakistan has rejected the allegations. A senior Pakistani official dismissed the claims as an attempt by New Delhi to distract from internal issues, stating that the government would not lend credibility to unverified stories. The operation follows previous arrests in West Bengal involving suspected links to the same network.
