India e-commerce market projected to reach $345 billion by 2030
India’s e-commerce and digital economy are undergoing rapid expansion, with market valuations projected to grow significantly by 2030. Estimates suggest the e-market, valued at approximately $125 billion in 2024, could reach between $300 billion and $345 billion by 2030, representing a substantial compound annual growth rate.
A key driver of this growth is the shift in consumer demand toward Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. Reports indicate that nearly 66% of new direct-to-consumer orders and approximately 45% of demand for international brands on platforms like Myntra are originating from these smaller urban centers.
As the market matures, the focus is shifting toward the underlying digital infrastructure. While India’s domestic payments ecosystem, led by UPI, has achieved massive scale with over 20 billion monthly transactions, challenges remain regarding cross-border payments. For global businesses, the necessity for efficient collection, reconciliation, and settlement through India’s regulatory and banking systems is becoming critical as transaction volumes increase.
