India Election Commission launches third phase of Special Voter List verification

India's Election Commission has begun the third phase of the Special Voter List (SIR) verification in 16 states and three union territories. In Odisha, Mizoram, Sikkim and Manipur, house‑to‑house visits started on 30 May 2026, with Block Level Officers (BLOs) providing voters with Form‑6, Form‑7 and Form‑8 for enrolment, deletion or correction. Forms submitted by 28 June 2026 will be included in a draft voter list to be published later.

In Gurugram, Haryana, the district administration has also initiated the SIR process, training BLOs and Electoral Registration Officers from 5 June to 14 June 2026. The draft voter list for the district will be released on 14 July 2026, followed by a grievance period from 21 July to 18 September 2026. The district also plans to add 251 new polling stations, raising the total to 1,755 to reduce crowding at polling booths.
