India establishes joint cybercrime coordination teams in seven hotspots

The Indian government has created Joint Cyber Coordination Teams (JCCTs) in seven locations identified as cyber‑fraud hotspots: Jamtara (Jharkhand), Mewat (Haryana), Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Visakhapatnam and Guwahati. The teams operate under the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and use the ‘Samanvaya’ management information system and the ‘Pratibimb’ mapping module to share data, track criminals and provide techno‑legal assistance across state and Union Territory police forces.

According to the Home Ministry, the coordinated effort has led to the arrest of more than 29,800 suspects and has processed over 2.3 lakh cyber‑investigation assistance requests. The citizen‑focused reporting platforms have handled 32.8 lakh complaints, saving more than Rs 11,158 crore from fraudulent schemes, while 65.9 lakh financial‑fraud complaints involving over Rs 55,000 crore were logged between 2021 and 2025. Additional initiatives include the ‘Sahyog’ portal for rapid takedown notices, the CyTrain e‑learning platform with over 1.6 lakh police and judicial officers certified, and a specialised training programme that has produced 281 cyber commandos.
